Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Visit Cambodia Next Week

Phnom Penh, April 19, 2024 – Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, is scheduled to make an official visit to Cambodia from April 21 to 23. This was announced today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

During his visit, Wang Yi will have the honor of a royal audience with King Norodom Sihamoni at the Royal Palace. He is also set to make courtesy calls on Hun Sen, President of the Senate, and Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Wang Yi and Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, will co-chair the Seventh Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee Meeting. Additionally, Wang Yi will engage in bilateral discussions with Sok Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. These talks will focus on reinforcing the already strong bilateral ties, covering a broad range of areas.

The Ministry noted that this visit is a part of the Cambodia-China People-to-People Exchange Year, and is expected to further enhance the steadfast friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation between the two nations. It will also contribute to the ongoing efforts to build a high-quality, high-level, and high-standard Community with a Shared Future, advance the Diamond Cooperation framework, and boost collaboration on regional and international platforms, benefiting both countries and their peoples.
